In response to yesterday's media reports, Kadokawa Corporation has issued a statement confirming that Sony Group Inc. is indeed interested in acquiring the company. However, no decision has been made so far.

Sony Interactive Entertainment is in talks to acquire the Kadokawa Group, according to a [Reuters](https://www.reuters.com/markets/deals/sony-talks-buy-media-powerhouse-behind-elden-ring-sources-say-2024-11-19/) report. The report cites two sources familiar with the matter. "The talks between the two sides are ongoing and, if successful, a deal could be signed in the coming weeks, the sources said," they say. Sony refused to comment on the report, and Kadokawa said the company could not comment on the report.

Sony already holds a 2 per cent stake in Kadokawa. The Kadokawa Group is an entertainment company engaged in a wide range of businesses including publishing, animation (Delicious in Dungeon), film, games, web services and education/edtech. The games division includes Acquire Corp, Gotcha Gotcha Games Inc, Spike Chunsoft and From Software (Dark Souls, Elden Ring).
