W4 Games announced a multi-year strategic partnership agreement with Second Dinner (Marvel Snap). The studio plans to build the largest game in Godot yet.

Second Dinner Studio and W4 Games today unveiled a collaboration, which will W4 Games accelerate the adoption of Godot Engine by Second Dinner, who plans to build the most ambitious Godot game yet. To further strengthen the relationship, Second Dinner has joined W4 Games as a strategic investor. W4 Games is a company that provides products and services to facilitate the development and commercialization of video games made with the Godot engine.

"When we formed W4 Games a couple of years ago, our vision was to make Godot the game engine of choice for superstar game developers. We are thrilled to announce this collaboration since Second Dinner represents exactly our vision," shares Nicola Farronato, W4 Games Co-CEO. "Second Dinner has always been an inspiration for me, a company that is never afraid to break new grounds in all senses. It will be a huge pleasure to work with them ensuring the success of their future titles," adds Juan Linietsky, Godot Engine creator and W4 Games Co-CEO.

Godot Engine is a free and open-source technology that became popular among Indies. In 2023, more than 2000 commercial Godot games were published. Examples of games developed with Godot include Halls of Torment (Chasing Carrots), Dome Keeper (bippinbits), Brotato (Blobfish) and Of Life and Land (Kerzoven). W4 Games says: "With a strong growth rate YoY, Godot has climbed the ranking of the game industry to challenge well established proprietary solutions and expand to fast-growing gaming segments as well as become the new choice for world class IPs and multiplayer titles."

Matt Wyble, Second Dinner's Chief Operating Officer, adds, "We're excited to partner with W4 Games and push the boundaries of what the Godot engine can achieve." Second Dinner is a game development studio founded in 2018 by veteran game developers, partly from Blizzard Entertainment, especially from the Hearthstone team. Its debut title was Marvel Snap.
