Munich game developer BBG Entertainment is expanding its business with new game releases and an increase in team strength.

The studio, owning several retro game rights, is releasing a reboot of Boulder Dash, which celebrates its 40th birthday this year, and ports of Dynablaster, Boulder Dash Deluxe, Shark! Shark! and Astrosmash for the PlayStation in the next year. Several other unannounced titles are also in development, BBG says.

Two of the projects are added to the company by Hans Ippisch, who is joining the Munich-based games developer and publisher and will be responsible for the Development and New Business divisions as Executive Director. Ippisch is credited with having founded Bavaria's first game studio in 1986 and has worked as games journalist for several years, especially as editor-in-chief and founding member for magazines like N-Zone and PlayStation Zone at Computec. He led the publisher as CEO for several years and has co-founded the devcom Developer Conference.

The latest project from TV and radio host Fritz Egner will also be joining the company. The project is supposed to be released this summer. Ippisch is also working with Stephan Berendsen, the founder and managing director of BBG Entertainment, on a new edutainment title with an important licence.

Hans Ippisch adds: "Stephan's career and global network in the games industry are unique. The fact that we can now use our energy and passion side by side for BBG Entertainment is a wonderful starting point after we have already successfully realised numerous projects for various platforms together in different constellations over the last five years".
